Unit Histories

The Unit Histories typically provide a month by month historical account of the unit's (division, regiment, battalion, or company) activities. While similar to the After Action Reports, these Unit History Reports provide more detail. The outline of the Unit History includes the following:

1. Original Unit - when the unit was activated
2. Changes in organization
3. Strength, commissioned and enlisted
4. Stations - arrival and departure dates/times during the month
5. Marches - any significant times the unit marched/moved during the month
6. Campaigns
7. Battles - any significant battles the unit fought during the month
8. Comanding Officers in important engagements
9. Losses in action; officers and men
10. Former and present members who have distinguished themselves in action - lists those officers and enlisted men who were awarded medals
11. Important scenes or events

Note that this list is far from complete. I've been able to obtain these documents from various sources and collections. As they become available, I'll scan and put them online.
