Note: There are more than 150,000 documents, images, and pages on this 80th Division site. Many of the Morning Reports, General Orders, Unit Histories, and Miscellaneous Reports are scanned as PDFs. Some of these reports are difficult to read. Google indexers can't convert many into searchable text. Your results will not pick up every Report that is on the site.

80th Infantry Division - European Friends

Over the years, the 80th Infantry Division Veterans Association has acquired many friends in Europe. Some are researchers, some are students, some are tour guides. All are friends who have an interest in keeping the memories alive.

Below find a list of our European friends, their location(s), and the type of assistance they might be able to offer, should you decide to further your research in Europe or follow in your 80th soldiers' footsteps.

    I can provide help and can guide on weekends along the path of the 80th Division in the area of Thuringia (Gotha, Concentration Camp Ohrdruf, Erfurt, Weimar, Buchenwald Liberation, Jena, Bad Kostritz, Gera, Chrimmetschau, Chemnitz)- April 1945 until they moved south to Bavaria.

    I live in Alencon; Argentan is a short drive, but Normandy (Omaha Beach) is about 2 hours. I can help set up visits to two great museums in the area, including the Overlord Museum, operated by a good friend.

    I live in Normandy and most of my work and activities are in the area. I can assist visitors to find a place to stay. I know guides and can prepare visits of battlefields. I can drive them in my Willys jeep, too. I am 50 km away from Argentan. I don't really know what people need when they come to France, but am flexible in assisting them.

They are either buried in or memorialized as missing at the overseas American War Cemeteries Ardennes, Epinal, Henri-Chapelle, Lorraine, Luxembourg, and Margraten.
